My name is Colleen Sweet, and my goal is to live up to my name. Whether it's a daily dog walk or an extended overnight stay, I provide care for both your pets and your home. From St. Paul neighborhoods to the wider Twin Cities metro, I offer calm, attentive service that keeps your animals in their own routines while you're away.
I didn't start as a professional pet sitter. I started as a neighbor on Lincoln Avenue, helping a friend walk her dog. Over the years, that simple favor grew into a passion for healthy activity and deep connection with animals—and eventually into SweetCare.Pet.
By day, I work as a paralegal, which means I bring a professional, detail-oriented approach to every client interaction. I'm the person clients trust with keys, alarm codes, and the little things that keep a household running smoothly.
Clients often tell me their pets are surprisingly calm around me—even a backyard chicken named Cecilia, who once dug a dust hole and relaxed right next to me on the deck.
My philosophy is simple: I adjust my behavior to what your animal needs. If your dog sleeps downstairs, I sleep downstairs. If your pet needs quiet companionship, I'm there.
I provide care for a wide variety of animals—dogs, cats, chickens, corn snakes, turtles, and more. If they're part of your family, I'm happy to learn their routine.
Whether you're stuck at work or away for the day, I stop in to feed, scoop litter, refresh water, and give your pets some attention and exercise.
For pets who need companionship at night, I stay in your home. This provides security for your house and comfort for your animals. I'm also happy to bring in the mail, water plants, and keep your home looking lived-in while you're away.
I have experience with medical needs, including administering medication and caring for pets with separation anxiety or age-related issues.
From collecting eggs from backyard chickens to feeding frozen mice to corn snakes, I'm comfortable with non-traditional pets and small homestead routines.
For the safety of your dogs, I do not use dog parks. All walks are on-leash so I can maintain full control and keep your pet safe.
I believe in responsive communication. Most clients text me, and I reply as quickly as I can. Whether you want regular photo updates or prefer to disconnect while you're on vacation, I match my updates to your preference.
Before you leave, I always require vet information and emergency contacts. I have experience troubleshooting household issues—from alarm codes to unexpected repairs—so you don't have to worry.
For their safety, cats who are usually indoor/outdoor need to stay indoors while in my care. This helps prevent them from getting lost or injured while you're away.
I currently accept cash or check. Pricing is customized based on the number of animals, medical complexity, and visit length, and generally ranges from $30 to $100 per day. We'll talk through your situation so you know what to expect before you book.
I serve the Twin Cities metro and nearby communities such as Shoreview and Minnetonka on a case-by-case basis.
I can often say "yes" to last-minute requests, but holidays book up quickly. Please reach out early for major holidays.
Travel plans change. If you're delayed returning home, I can usually extend care so your pets stay comfortable.
Before we book, I always schedule a meet & greet at your home to talk through routines and make sure your animals are comfortable with me.
